In the “14th Five-Year Plan” for the high-quality development of manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province issued by the Guangdong Provincial Government, the modern light textile industry is listed as one of the province’s 20 strategic industrial clusters, and Shantou is clearly listed as a coastal economic zone. The east wing lays out the core city for the development of “modern light industry and textile industry”.
In 2021, Shantou City has more than 8,000 underwear and home clothing manufacturing enterprises, including 688 enterprises above designated size, with a total industrial output value of 114.419 billion yuan, accounting for 34.3% of the city’s total industrial output value; industrial growth The value is 24.657 billion yuan, accounting for 33.2% of the city’s industrial added value. Since the beginning of this year, Shantou City’s textile and garment industry has maintained a good development momentum.
There are already 6 textile industry clusters in Shantou City that have established pilot co-construction relationships with China Textile Federation, namely: Chenghai District of Shantou City – “Famous City of Chinese Craft Sweaters”, Chaonan District of Shantou City District – “China’s Famous Underwear and Home Clothing Town”, Chaonan District Xiashan Street – “China’s Famous Home Clothing Town”, Chaonan District Chendian Town – “China’s Famous Underwear Town”, Chaonan District Liangying Town – “China’s Famous Knitted Town” and Gurao Town, Chaoyang District, Shantou City – “China’s Famous Knitted Underwear Town”.
The successful inclusion of Shantou City in the China Textile and Apparel Industry Federation’s industrial cluster pilot project will further enhance the influence of Shantou City’s textile and apparel regional brands, promote Shantou City to coordinate industrial development resources at a higher level, and establish and Improve the public service platform that supports industrial development, build a global intelligent manufacturing base for underwear and textile apparel, and an industrial chain supply chain hub to support the sustainable and healthy development of Shantou’s textile and apparel enterprises and promote the doubling of regional industrial scale.
