China is a big textile country, and its textile production accounts for a large proportion in the world. With the improvement of people’s living and consumption levels, the use cycle of textiles is getting shorter and shorter. The recycling, treatment and waste utilization of textiles have reached an inevitable point. to the point of neglect.
The so-called waste textiles mainly refer to textiles discarded in daily life, such as old clothes, bedding, towels, carpets, etc. On the other hand, they are produced in spinning, weaving and finished product production and processing processes. Waste short fibers, waste yarn, waste silk, waste cloth and noil, etc. Recycling and classifying waste textiles can be effectively reprocessed and reused. There are many textile wastes that can be recycled. Let me give you a few real-life cases:
1: The simplest transformation of old T-shirts. If you feel that the T-shirt is not good-looking enough, or there is damage or stains on the clothes, you can use some old clothes, cut out the pattern you like, and sew it on the T-shirt, so that it is a new piece of clothing. .
Two: “Come from the cloth, go to the cloth”. The shredded and loosened wool fibers, such as shabby sweaters and woolen clothing, have longer lengths and can be directly spun and woven into woolen fabrics or knitted into sweater pants. There are several factories in Italy that do this. In processing, we have achieved relatively successful experience. The quality of the woolen wool produced from this waste wool is no inferior to that of the original textiles. These wools can also be incorporated into new yarns and used in furniture fabrics, decorative materials, clothing linings, etc., so that they can be recycled.
However, for some fibers with poor quality and relatively short length, this is not suitable. They can be used as filling materials after appropriate treatment. For example, the filling of cushions and insulation layers, as well as polyester foam inner cushions on the playground, can increase its elasticity and extend its service life. As early as November 2012, my country initiated the establishment of the Waste Textiles Alliance, led by the China Circular Economy Association, focusing on creating miracles in the recycling of textiles.
Three: Crushing and functionalization of blended waste textiles tidy. The crushed waste textiles can be crushed to produce flame retardants, which can be put into molds and pressed into automotive panels, air-conditioning sound insulation materials, or shredded, functionalized and sorted to be brushed on walls to become wall insulation materials and other industrial uses. textile. The British government vigorously promotes and supports such recycling enterprises, encourages the public to regard these textile wastes as usable resources, encourages recycled fiber production enterprises, and ensures that these wastes are put to their best use.
The cumulative stock of waste textiles in my country is nearly 100 million tons. Statistics show that approximately 26 million tons of textile waste are thrown into the trash every year. Compared with such a huge production volume, the reuse rate of waste textiles is very low, less than 1%. The recycling, recycling and reuse of waste cloth scraps from textile production and daily textiles not only make up for the shortage of textile raw materials in my country, but also become an emerging industrial project with low cost, high efficiency and sufficient resources, with broad development prospects. It’s worth exploring.
