In early December, processing by a few cotton companies in the Alar region of Xinjiang has ended, but most companies are still continuing their processing work, and the processing progress is more than half.
According to statistics from the China Fiber Quality Monitoring Center, the color grade, length, micronaire value, and length uniformity of cotton from the Alar First Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in 2021 All indicators have improved significantly compared with last year, and the processing quality has basically remained the same. However, affected by the quality of raw cotton (climate factors and unsatisfactory effects of defoliants), the impurity content of lint is generally higher than last year.
The company has also taken certain measures to deal with the problem of high impurity content in lint. The person in charge of a local ginning company said that the first is to adjust the seed cotton cleaning equipment to discharge impurities to the maximum extent; the second is to ensure the working clearance of various parts of the cotton gin and skin cleaning machine to ensure that all impurity discharge areas are unobstructed to prevent blockage, which will cause infertile seeds and other impurities. The third is to control the drying temperature at any time and control the moisture regain of seed cotton at 5.0-6.5% to ensure the smooth discharge of impurities to the maximum extent; the fourth is to promptly remove gaps and technical parameter differences in various parts caused by long-term use of processing equipment. The accurate situation adjustment is in place to restore the processing equipment to its best condition and ensure the quality of lint processing.
Affected by this, the cotton processing speed has slowed down and the processing period has been extended, resulting in an increase in the company’s lint processing costs. At present, the price of local lint cotton continues to fall, and processing companies are not very willing to sell lint cotton.
