Zhigong is a pure cotton fabric woven with warp satin weave. Since most of the surface is covered with warp threads, the thicker one has the appearance of wool fabric, so it is also called Gongwei or Zhigong satin; the thinner one has the style of silk satin, so it is called Zhigong satin.
The commonly used warp and weft yarns in Drikong are 10~42tex (60-14 British count) single yarn, or 7.5tex×2~18tex×2 (80/2~32/2 British count) strands . The warp tightness is 68%-100%, the weft tightness is 45%-55%, and the warp and weft tightness ratio is about 3:2.
Drigong texture is tight and thick, soft to the touch, and the cloth surface is smooth and shiny. According to the different yarns used, it is divided into yarn Zhigong and half-line Zhigong; according to the different printing and dyeing processes, it is divided into color Zhigong and flower Zhigong, which are usually finished by electro-optical or calendering. Colored Zhigong is mainly used as outerwear and shoe fabrics; printed Zhigong is mainly used as quilt cover and clothing fabrics.
The surface of Zhigong has a long floating length, and it is easy to get lint when rubbed hard, so it is not suitable to scrub hard.
