Recently, the Ministry of Education’s Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture (Silkworm and Silk) Inheritance Base Exhibition Hall was opened at Huzhou Normal University to vigorously carry out research on silkworm and silk culture and promote the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation.
China is the birthplace of the world’s sericulture and silk culture. The sericulture and silk weaving skills have lasted for five thousand years, making a significant contribution to Chinese history and through the Silk Road. Human civilization has had a profound impact. In September last year, Huzhou Normal University was approved by the Ministry of Education as the inheritance base for excellent Chinese traditional culture (silkworms and silkworms). Relying on Huzhou Normal University, the base integrates and taps into the rich silk culture resources of Huzhou and even the whole country, and carries out the rescue and excavation, sorting and protection, inheritance and innovation, and exchange and dissemination of silk culture.
Since its establishment more than a year ago, the base has carried out scientific research on silk culture, curriculum construction and teaching material development, community construction and workshop construction for the school. It has opened ” Publicly-selected courses such as “Appreciation of China’s Silkworm and Silk Culture” have been established, and spring (autumn) silkworm workshops have been established; for universities, primary and secondary schools, communities, enterprises and villages in the Yangtze River Delta region, through festivals, special exhibitions and research studies related to silkworm and silk culture Carry out extensive cultural dissemination through activities and other activities to create a brand of Jiangnan silkworm and silk culture; carry out research, exchange and dissemination of Chinese silkworm and silk culture across the country; strive to radiate Chinese silkworm and silk culture through the Confucius Institute and other carriers, and strive to radiate the “One Belt and One Road” and tell the world Tell good Chinese stories and spread Chinese culture.
The Silkworm and Silk Culture Exhibition Hall displays the process of silkworm and silk production in four chapters: praying to God for silkworms, planting mulberry and raising silkworms, reeling and weaving silk, and diversified utilization. The process and the skills, folk customs and culture involved. Currently, there are more than a thousand pictures and physical exhibits in the museum, including five iconic medals won by Jilihu silk at international expositions since the 19th century.
