REACH Regulation | What? Has the EU imposed restrictions on it too? Those who make textiles must know this!

Recently, the European Commission made amendments to Appendix 17 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, officially adding decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE) to Appendix 17 and becoming a controlled substance in Article 67 of REACH Appendix 17.

According to the provisions of the new amendment, after March 2, 2019:

1.decaBDE shall not be used in manufacturing or processing, or put into the market alone;

2.decaBDE shall not be used to produce the following substances or be put on the market:

Exists as a component in other substances;

mixture;

The mass fraction of the substance in the article or component is greater than or equal to 0.1%

Decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE) is generally used as a flame retardant in textiles and plastic products, adhesives, sealants, coatings, and inks. It is a persistent organic pollutant and is difficult to degrade in the environment. It is bioaccumulative and can be enriched along the biological chain to affect human health. Its chronic toxicity includes effects on development, endocrine interference, reproductive toxicity, etc.
