Since May, the Korla region of Xinjiang has continued to experience high temperatures and little rain, which is conducive to the development of cotton seedlings. Up to now, the local cotton seedlings have a plant height of 25-60 cm, and a single plant has 4-7 fruit branches.

Local cotton farmers said that since early June, most cotton fields have entered the peak budding period, more than a week earlier than the same period last year. It is understood that cotton in the budding stage is more sensitive to water and fertilizer. If there is insufficient water and fertilizer, especially insufficient nitrogen fertilizer, it will cause poor vegetative growth. If there is too much water and fertilizer, especially too much nitrogen, it will cause excessive vegetative growth.

Technicians from the Korla Agricultural Technology Extension Center suggest that in normal cotton fields, the first dripping work should be carried out at the end of early June. The dripping volume should be 30 cubic meters/acre, and 1-2 kilograms of urea can be dripped; , Three dripping volumes of 20-25 m3/mu. Starting from June 10, the daily application standard of 0.15 kg of macroelement water-soluble fertilizer and 0.3 kg of urea is adopted. If the water supply is tight and the cotton needs to be dripped without drought, the water should be adjusted 3-5 days before the water is poured, and the amount of dripping should be small to prevent the cotton from growing wildly after dripping. Use as little salty water or bitter water as possible for dripping.

At the same time, cotton fields in the peak budding stage must also do a good job in preventing and controlling diseases and insect pests, and do a good job in monitoring cotton aphids, cotton spider mites, cotton bollworms, and Lygus gossypii to achieve early prevention and early treatment. It is prohibited to use highly toxic pesticides to control aphids to avoid affecting the photosynthesis and normal growth of cotton due to insect damage. In addition, with the recent continuous high temperature weather in the local area, cotton farmers should take preventive measures against spider mites in advance. Since June, there have been many weeds on the edges of the fields, so cotton farmers should complete the weeding work as soon as possible.
