According to the Swedish Trade and Investment Board, the program, called “Building Swedish-Made Textiles,” has received 45.5 million Swedish kronor (approximately $5.2 million) in grants over three years and will be developed at Pernilla Walkenström at the scientific and engineering research institute SwereaIVF. 在该计划的背后，企业、研究机构和学术界将在三年内合作建立一个以木材或回收的生物基纺织品为原料所生产的新型态纺织纤维。
根据BusinessSweden的预测，全球对纺织纤维的需求量会随着中产阶级和城市化的成长而增加，预计到2050年将增加三倍需求量。由于环境的产生不利影响，石化纤维和棉纤维的生产已经达到部份饱和，。
The agency stated, “This plan is a strategic plan to develop nonwoven textiles and textile materials in Sweden. This plan will achieve new cross-industry cooperation and business models by creating a comprehensive knowledge platform and obtain certification from it. Individual success stories of the feasibility of this concept”
