For science fiction movie fans, October 21, 2015 is a significant day. Because in the second part of the classic science fiction movie “Back to the Future” series, Martin Seamus McFly, the character played by Michael J. Fox, came to this day in a time machine. Although the future depicted in the movie has not completely become a reality, at least the self-lacing sneakers (NikeMag) worn by the protagonist have indeed become a reality.

Although Nike launched a pair of Mags in 2011, it did not use the self-lacing technology we saw in the movie. But don’t worry, Nike has recently confirmed that the real MartyMcFly sneakers will meet us next spring.

Tinker Hatfield, senior vice president of creative concepts at Nike, who once designed the Mag sneakers, recently confirmed the news. He also wrote to Fox: “Although this project began as science fiction, we are now very proud to make it a reality.”

According to a Nike representative told the media, the first pair of self-lacing NikeMags are now in New York. As for where this pair of limited edition sneakers is located, it’s interesting to talk about. Fox will participate in the recording of the new Jimmy Kimmel Live as a guest, and this pair of NikeMag may appear on this TV show. Although Nike has not yet announced its price, similar to the original NikeMag, it will be sold at auction, and all proceeds will be used for Michael J. Fox’s research on Parkinson’s disease (Fox himself is a Parkinson’s disease patient).

Nike says that this self-tying shoelace technology is still in its early stages, and they are currently undergoing extensive testing to bring it to other sports shoes in the future.
